Mr.Dara Mistry

Mr.Dara Mistry, a familiar name in the Harmonica circles in the country, has been playing the Harmonica for almost 61 years, which he started at the age of 11 years. Recalling his memories, he stresses on PRACTICE, which used to be 2 hours for him every day. Mr. Mistry has had his lessons from Mr.Damri, the Harmonica legends, who happened to be his fathers close friend. Mr.Mistry's expertise includes Western Classical Music apart from Indian music...

Dear avinash and friends,
my salutes to Mr. Dara Mistry for that lovely piece of music.
We were strangers a few days back and today this little instrument has made us friends. Isn't this great ?
You have 28 members today. I am sure with the awareness of your activities you will have many more to join the club.
I will be going to chennai after the 17th of this month and will drop there for a day or two again to pull some of your time.
Thanks dear and all the best.

Hi Avinash,
Thanks to your efforts today we are getting to hear such beautiful performances. I wish I could attend and hear Mr. Dara Mistry live on 11th January. His use of the chromatic scale changer is excellent and very unique. Mr. Jacob's performance was another sweet revelation of how resourceful Bangalore can be when it comes to Harmonica masters. We are not only getting to hear such great people, but surely get their blessings and guidance in our learning process. So far only two of the performances uploaded on the blog. I am sure you will give us daily dose of such surprises with many more uploads in the days to come.
Tapanji, you are the primary source of inspiration. May many more visits happen to Bangalore !!

Hi! My name is Frida and I am Dara Mistry's daughter. I just wanted to let you know that my dad, Dara Mistry, passed away last Sunday (01-11-2009). On Sunday morning, dad, who is also passionate about ballroom dancing, mentioned that he hadn't had a chance to dance for a few months and suggested that he and I go down to our colony clubhouse for a short dance session. After a couple of dances he sat down to rest, keeled over and died of a massive cardiac arrest at noon. He had no health complications, and was absolutely fit until then. He had asked for his eyes and body to be donated for research and anatomy studies to St Johns Medical College here in
Bangalore.

On November 1st, our fellow club member Kapilesh told us that he got a call from Mr. Dara Mistry conveying him that he will be soon visiting the club meets. We were all excited about it. The next I came to know is this shocking news. Though I never met him, I feel this as a personal loss. My deepest condolences to everyone in his family. His memories will keep inspiring all who have heard him live and through the blog.
